April

The month of April was a month of highs and lows. I got to go on a trip to visit my old teammates from my undergrad days at UR. While driving up there, I found out that my grandpa passed away.

My grandpa (Gaga) was my favorite person in the world. He was always full of interesting stories, including believing that aliens built the egyption pyramids while being a stouch christian. I know that the two aren't mutually exclusive, but it always seemed to be an interesting contradiction in my mind. He was loving, kind, and understanding. He was also so accepting of Andrea with no questions asked, which I know is not the usual when it comes to the older generations.

I miss him very, very much.

May

May was the unexpected start of our hectic summer. My little sister graduated from Michigan state, so we started the month in East Lansing. Then I spent nearly 3 weeks in floating between Rhode Island and New Jersey, attending Gaga's funeral service, spending time with my Grandma, and helping my mom get the family affairs in order.

We weren't planning on things getting crazy until at least mid-June, but sometimes life just throws what it has at you.

June

The last week of June, Andrea and I got to travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina. We hadn't really traveled all that much together outside of visiting eachother's families, so it was a really fun "first" experience for us.

We spent a little over a week in Buenos Aires, which in restrospect was just not enough time. We got to visit the Japanese Gardens, Recoletta Cemetary, and la Bombonera (just to name a few things).

I also had the best steak I have ever had in my life at a place called El Mercado (tucked away inside the Faena hotel).

I really appreciated the opportunity to go somewhere new. I am not used to traveling to somewhere and not spending a lot of time on the beach, so this was something new and exciting to experience!

July

We were home for a brief 2(ish) weeks, got sick on our way back, then turned around and drove up to Rhode Island to spend some time working remotely from south county.

I would live there in a heartbeat, but alas. Adulting, and stuff. I always enjoy my time there and there is something about the slowed down beach time that I really jive with.

August

So that brings us to August. Andrea's classes are back up and moving which means we will be spending more time in Indiana again.

I think that my goal this fall is to carve out more time to be deliberate and take care of myself. Walking, reading, working out. Ya know, the whole nine yards. I am definitely a creature of routine so this entire summer has just felt like I get home, I struggle to re-adjust, and then I am ripped out of whatever I gained back almost as soon as I got it back.

With more time at home comes more time to help me solidfy the habits I have been trying to build. Wish me luck 😁

Read

Like the aformentioned habits above, reading was also something that hit a little bit of a slouch. This is all that I covered during the summer months. I've got a long way to go if I am going to hit my 33, and I really need to pick up the pace.
